Anti Hijack Trust January report

ANTI-HIJACK UPDATE FOR JANUARY 2015

As the first month of 2015 is almost done and dusted let’s start by wishing you all a bright and successful 2015 .. may it be as ‘crime free’ as we, and that means YOU, the public make it. We face a challenging year ahead ! Keep security as a high priority on the TO DO list. There have been reports of theft from vehicles in public areas (car parks, garages etc) all happening in a short period …. It only takes seconds, and as we have a very high unemployment rate and loiterers in most of these areas please be extremely vigilant and do not leave your car unlocked or unattended for ANY reason or valuable items in view … put it all in the BOOT this includes the shopping .  When locking your vehicle please make sure that it is locked by checking your door physically as remotes and blockers have been used to ‘confuse’ the command to lock. This will mean that there is no evidence of a forced entry. An incident of being robbed of cash at knife point on returning to the vehicle in a public car park has been reported.    Schools are now back, be very aware and vigilant when dropping and picking up the children, most schools have security in these areas, but do not let your guard down as you are responsible for your vehicle not the school.

Do not carry large sums of money with you ….

Do not have large sums of money in the home …

Make sure the alarm system is activated in areas not occupied but where possible have activated at all times

Communicate with all staff on who will be calling, working or collecting from your premises on a regular basis to avoid unauthorized people gaining entry.

Lock all vehicles parked on the premises at all times

Start the year off and be ALERT, VIGILANT, and AWARE at all times

Let’s ALL fight this crime together  - stay ALERT and SAFE !
